Hello MOSAIC Families,

Welcome to the first full week of school! Last week was a great start for our students and staff. Students quickly got into the daily routines of the school day and were eager to get to work! It was great to see all the students once again fill the hallways at MOSAIC.

There are many important messages this week you will want to review. The first is an important message from Dr. Gaines regarding facility conditions at MOSAIC. He has also shared a brief survey for each family to complete. We hope you take the time to fill out the survey. We also have an important message from our Student Services Department and our PTO. A Message from the Superintendent

Dear MOSAIC Elementary School Families and Staff,

As you may have heard, we have the opportunity in 2020 to make an investment in our facilities and operations without increasing the tax rate. However, this will require placing a proposition on the ballot and the support of our community. We have formed a steering committee to gather feedback and to prioritize facility projects at each school. The steering committee will also make a recommendation to the Board of Education on what, if anything, should be placed on the 2020 ballot.

The steering committee needs your assistance to determine facility improvement priorities at MOSAIC Elementary School. Parent surveys indicated that our facilities need improvements in the areas of heating and cooling, parking, restrooms and safety. While we've recently replaced the school's HVAC system and windows, we’re asking you to provide feedback on other facilities needs, like parking, restrooms, safety, instructional space and general upgrades. 

Please use the form attached below to write down your thoughts. We'd appreciate if you returned completed forms to Dr. Clark in the school office by Tuesday, Sept. 3. Forms will also be available for your use in the MOSAIC Elementary School office.

A Message from Student Services

Dear Mehlville School District families,

We have a new back-to-school procedure that will save you and our school district time and paper while ensuring we have up-to-date contact information for your student. This year, we are asking parents to complete their Family Information Update through the Parent Portal. The Family Information Update gives you the opportunity to review and update your phone numbers, email addresses, emergency contacts and other important information. You will also be asked to review our annual notifications, media release and technology policies. At this time, the Family Information Update only applies to students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

Parent Instructions for the online Family Information Update

We recommend 
accessing the Parent Portal through a desktop or laptop computer to complete the Family Information Update. You can also access it through a web browsing app on your phone, like Safari or Chrome. After logging in to Parent Portal, you'll see a yellow bar in your dashboard that says "Online Registration must be completed for the 2019-2020 year." Click "view" to get started with the Family Information Update. 

On the next screen, you'll see the list of forms that need to be viewed or updated. Click "edit" next to the first form to get started. The system will then walk you through completing the following forms:

· Welcome and Instructions 

· Household Parents  

· Household Addresses 

· Proof of Residency (if your address has changed)

· Student Information 

· Emergency Contacts 

· Non-Resident Parents

· Annual Notifications 

The forms above apply to your entire family and only need to be completed once. After you review the district’s annual notifications, you will be asked to complete the following forms: 

· Student Media Release

· High School Technology Usage

These forms must be completed individually for each student you have in the district. The system will automatically navigate you through that process for each of your children in alphabetical order. Once all of your forms are completed, you will be asked to submit forms. If you need to pause the process or get interrupted, the system saves as you go, so you can return at any time.

4th and 5th grade trip to Tremont

We are excited to once again offer 4th and 5th grade students the opportunity to participate in the excursion to the Great Smoky Mountains Institute of Tremont. The trip will take place on Monday, November 4th through Wednesday, November 6th. MOSAIC will be partnering with Wohlwend Elementary this school year. The two schools will be hosting an informational night on Thursday, August 22nd at Wohlwend Elementary beginning at 7pm. Please mark your calendar for this important meeting.

Girls on the Run

With the new school year comes a new season for Girls on the Run! GOTR is a program for girls in 3rd - 5th grades that inspires them to be strong, healthy and confident. The program is 10 weeks long and ends with a 5K Run in Downtown St. Louis Saturday November 16th. Registration is now open and will close on August 28th.  The program will begin the first week of September (Tuesdays & Thursdays 4-5:15pm).  MOSAIC Coaches this year will be Ms. McGuire, Ms. Lakebrink, Ms. Daubach, and Mrs. Rooks. We look forward to working with you this season and plan to have a lot of fun!

MOSAIC PTO 

Studio Party Days - $10.00 per child.

Please send in studio party funds in a marked envelope to PTO with your child’s name and studio, if not dropped off on School Supply Drop-Off on Monday, August 13th.

Room Parents Needed!

We are seeking lead room parents for Studios K, 2, 4, and 5.  Please email Katie Hagerty Young at bhags122@hotmail.com if you are willing to help.  Responsibilities are fairly minimal, and will mostly involve seasonal event/party planning and the Teacher Appreciation Week that is typically held in May.  Kindergarten and Studio 5 lead room parents will help to coordinate graduation events. Thank you in advance for your willingness to assist in making these events special for our students

Third Annual Mums Fundraiser!

Help support PTO in a beautiful way! Order forms have been sent home and are due back Friday, September 6th with payment to PTO of cash or check. Mums delivery is scheduled for Friday September 13th. Any questions please contact Amanda Kuburic - nextelgirl@gmail.com


Adults Day Out 9/7 (NOT a MOSAIC school sponsored event).

Enjoy a day with friends from our community. Join us at Villa Antonio Winery on 9/7 at 1pm. Adults only please.

DADS NEEDED!

Dads club will hold its first meeting this Tuesday, Aug. 20th 8:30pm at Firehouse House on Lemay Ferry. Come meet other MOSAIC dads and see how you can help the Dads Club. Monthly meeting notices will be published on the Dads Club Facebook page and in the Monday updates.

2nd Annual PTO Golf Tournament Saturday September 21, 2019 - Registration begins 11:30AM, 1:00pm shotgun start.

Join us September 21st at Columbia Golf Club, tournament is a four person scramble format. Purchase your team registration today for $300, which includes green fees, drink ticket and a BBQ dinner with awards. There is a cash prize for winning teams. We are currently looking for sponsors for each tee box and our tournament. Interested in helping or want to register a team? Please contact Samantha Stormer - samnstormer17@gmail.com .

Golf Tournament Sponsors Needed!

Attached you will find our Golf Tournament sponsorship letter. Even if you don’t own a business you can still be a sponsor. Last year we had parents and grandparents sponsor a hole. Sample: Bob and Sheri Stormer Grandparents of Melina and Maclayne Stormer. If you would like to see a sample picture please let us know. Please help us cover the course with sponsors. If you or someone you know would like to sponsor we would love to hear from you.

Parent Directory - Deadline Monday, 09/09/2019:
MOSAIC parents and guardians, please help the PTO update the student/parent directory for the 2019-2020 school year.  A PDF copy of the directory will be emailed to all those who participate and share their information. No personal information will be shared to Facebook. If you are new to MOSAIC or would like to add to the directory this year please fill out this Google form by September 9th to be included in the directory. Please only provide information you feel comfortable sharing with fellow MOSAIC families.  If you provided information last year, we will include the same information this year unless you resubmit the form with updated information or email us at mosaicpto@gmail.com with a request to be removed from the directory.
