Happy Monday MOSAIC families,

Once again, we have a very busy week ahead of us. I want to remind all our parents and guardians that MOSAIC is hosting a curriculum night this Thursday evening, August 29
th beginning at 6pm. We will have a 6-6:30pm session and a 6:30-7:00pm session. The purpose of Curriculum Night is to inform parents about the learning standards of their child’s grade level, best teaching practices that will be utilized by your child’s teacher and learn more about the components of personalized learning and project-based learning. Please note that Curriculum Night is for parents and guardians only.

I also want to remind our families that this Wednesday, August 28th is an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 1:20pm. I ask that all vehicles are on the MOSAIC parking lot by 1:15pm.

Outdoor Classroom Committee

The first MOSAIC Outdoor Classroom Committee meeting will be Monday, September 9, 2019 from 8:00-8:45 a.m. in the MOSAIC Library.  Anyone who is interested in being part of the outdoor space is welcome to join.  Students are welcome to come with their parents.  If you have any questions or would like to RSVP you can contact Laurie Tretter-Larkin at tretter-larkinl@msdr9org. 


STRETCH classes will begin August 26. Due to a large increase in the number of students qualifying for STRETCH, the schedule has changed. This increase has also resulted in the Extend program being placed on hold for the 19-20 school year. The updated schedule is as follows:

A Message from the Superintendent

Dear MOSAIC Elementary School Families and Staff,

As you may have heard, we have the opportunity in 2020 to make an investment in our facilities and operations without increasing the tax rate. However, this will require placing a proposition on the ballot and the support of our community. We have formed a steering committee to gather feedback and to prioritize facility projects at each school. The steering committee will also make a recommendation to the Board of Education on what, if anything, should be placed on the 2020 ballot.

The steering committee needs your assistance to determine facility improvement priorities at MOSAIC Elementary School. Parent surveys indicated that our facilities need improvements in the areas of heating and cooling, parking, restrooms and safety. While we've recently replaced the school's HVAC system and windows, we’re asking you to provide feedback on other facility’s needs, like parking, restrooms, safety, instructional space and general upgrades. 

Please use the form attached below to write down your thoughts. We'd appreciate if you returned completed forms to Dr. Clark in the school office by Tuesday, Sept. 3. Forms will also be available for your use in the MOSAIC Elementary School office.

We apologize for the inconvenience, though we needed to change the date of our September PTO meeting from 09/10/19 to 09/03/19. We are also changing the scheduled March 2020 meeting date to 03/03/20. These changes are to accommodate Central Office meetings in September and an Election Day being held in March. Please update your calendar appropriately and we hope to see you September 3rd at 6:30pm.

Studio Party Days - $10.00 per child.

Please send in studio party funds in a marked envelope to PTO with your child’s name and studio, if not dropped off on School Supply Drop-Off on Monday, August 13th. 

Third Annual Mums Fundraiser!

2nd Annual PTO Golf Tournament Saturday September 21, 2019 - Registration begins 11:30AM, 1:00pm shotgun start.

Join us September 21st at Columbia Golf Club, tournament is a four person scramble format. Registration cost for a team of four golfers is $300, which includes green fees, drink ticket and a BBQ dinner with awards. There is a cash prize for winning teams. Tournament sponsors are needed for each tee box and other parts of the tournament. If interested in helping or want to register a team? Please contact Samantha Stormer via email at .

On Friday the Golf Registration Forms went home in your child’s backpack. Team registration is open! We hope you will come out and enjoy this fun event. Golf Tournament Sponsors Needed!

Attached is the Golf Tournament sponsorship letter. Anyone can be a sponsor, not just business owners, Last year there were parent and grandparent sponsors that sponsored a hole. Sample: Bob and Sheri Stormer Grandparents of Melina and Maclayne Stormer. Sample pictures of the sponsorship signs can be provided upon request. Please help cover the course with sponsors. If you or someone you know would like to sponsor we would love to hear from you. 

Parent Directory - Deadline Monday, 09/09/2019:
MOSAIC parents and guardians, please help the PTO update the student/parent directory for the 2019-2020 school year.  A PDF copy of the directory will be emailed to all those who participate and share their information. No personal information will be shared to Facebook. Anyone new to MOSAIC or would who like to add to the directory this year, please fill out this Google form by September 9th to be included in the directory. Please only provide information you feel comfortable sharing with fellow MOSAIC families.  If you provided information last year, we will include the same information this year unless you resubmit the form with updated information or email us at with a request to be removed from the directory.

Dad’s Club Meeting - 9/17

Dad’s Club will be meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 17th at 8:30pm at Firehouse Bar & Grill on Lemay Ferry.

Fundraising with no effort.

There are two ways to help the PTO fundraise with little to no effort.  Do you use Amazon? Do you grocery shop? 

When using Amazon, use the web address of to shop on Amazon.  Once on that page, please select MOSAIC Elementary School as the recipient of the donation.  0.5% of any orders placed via are donated to the PTO.

For grocery shopping, the BoxTops process is changing. Soon, the usual BoxTop logo will no longer be on the groceries. Please send in the physical BoxTop coupons from participating items into your child's class rooms until further notice. Eventually, the new submission method will be digital via a smartphone app.  Download the BOXTOP APP on on iOS or Android. The setup process involves setting up an account and select MOSAIC Elementary School as the beneficiary. Once the app has been set up, scan your receipts and anything that is a BoxTop item will be added as a donation to the PTO like before. If you would rather send your receipts in with your box tops please do, we will add for you. We have a designated spot for them in the classrooms. Contact Kelly Howard with any questions. 

Trunk of Treat Saturday October 26th. 

It is almost that time again, my fave time and event of the year.

We will need lots of help in planning and executing our Trunk or treat event. If you would like to commit please Contact Kelly Howard at

Save the Date February 19th, 2020 PTO Event Added.

We’ve added an event. MOSAIC, OES, Wohlwend and Blades will be joining together for an evening at The Magic House. Tickets will be on a first come first serve basis. We will notify everyone when our tickets go on sale. 

Girls on the Run

With the new school year comes a new season for Girls on the Run! GOTR is a program for girls in 3rd - 5th grades that inspires them to be strong, healthy and confident. The program is 10 weeks long and ends with a 5K Run in Downtown St. Louis Saturday November 16th. Registration is now open and will close on August 28th.  The program will begin the first week of September (Tuesdays & Thursdays 4-5:15pm).  MOSAIC Coaches this year will be Ms. McGuire, Ms. Lakebrink, Ms. Daubach, and Mrs. Rooks. We look forward to working with you this season and plan to have a lot of fun!
