Dear MOSAIC Families,

As I write the last email blast of the 2019-2020 school year, it is hard not to think about how difficult these past two months have been. As we remember this school year, let us not allow it to be defined by our time apart, but through the uncertainty and the unknown, how we all came closer together. I witnessed compassion, understanding, support, and most importantly love from one to another over the past three months. Please allow us to continue this way as we move forward. We are all part of the MOSAIC family.

I have several important items to share with you through this week. I will continue to do my weekly email blast providing ongoing updates. We do hope to provide time for families to pick up their child’s belongings in the next few weeks. I will be sure to share finalized plans with all our families.

As we close out this school year, I want to thank Ms. Lakebrink, Ms. Vaporean and Mr. Schulte for their service at MOSAIC these past three years. I wish Ms. Lakebrink the very best in her new position at Washington Middle School as a Middle School Academy teacher. We also want to wish Ms. Vaporean the best as she transfers to Oakville High School. Once again, congratulations to Mr. Schulte in his new role as an Assistant Principal in the Parkway School District. I would like to announce Mr. Preston Steinhoff as our new Physical Education teacher at MOSAIC. Mr. Steinhoff comes to MOSAIC with five years of teaching experience. We are excited to have him join our MOSAIC family.

Parent Zoom Meetings

Thank you once again to our parents who attended last week’s Zoom meeting. Mr. Steven White presented on Internet safety. He provided several ways parents can monitor their child’s internet usage and keep them safe. Mr. White was kind enough to provide his presentation that I am sharing with you. Please take the time to review the material and feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. Mr. White said he would make himself available to assist us in any manner. Please view the resources below for more info:

We had several excellent questions asked by our families during Mr. White’s presentation. I wanted to address one in particular that was specific to the district’s firewalls and safety protocols on Chromebook devices when used at home. As you know, the district is allowing students to keep their Chromebooks over the summer. Please know that your child’s Chromebook has software in place to protect students from inappropriate material. However, it is still important for parents monitor their child’s internet usage on a constant basis.

Although we do not have a Zoom meeting scheduled for this week, we do have plans to host periodical meetings throughout the summer on a variety of topics. To better serve our families, we would like to know what topics you would like to see presented. Please add your suggestions on this brief survey:

Additional Learning Resources

As we leave for summer break, I want to provide you with a helpful resource from our district’s curriculum office. There are numerous links, documents and materials for our families to use over the course of the summer.

On behalf of the MOSAIC staff, it has been our honor to serve you for the 2019-2020 school year. We look forward to seeing the children and our families once again in August as we begin the new school year. Have a safe, relaxing and healthy summer break!
