Dear MOSAIC Families,

I hope everyone had a nice extended weekend. I wanted to begin this week’s email blast informing our families about two important topics: Kindergarten Lottery and Portrait of a Graduate traits. Today’s email is rather long, but I would like to encourage our families to take time to read through the information, as I think you will find it very helpful.

Kindergarten Lottery

The kindergarten lottery for the 2022-2023 school year will open on February 7th and close on February 25th. If you were unable to attend last week’s virtual meeting, please click on the link below to watch the video. Please remember that families who currently have a child at MOSAIC have first choice to send their incoming kindergartener to MOSAIC for the 2022-2023 school year. I also want you to remember that you must register your child in the district and complete the lottery application. Families will be notified of the lottery results on March 4th and must accept the position by March 11th. You can contact our school office at 314-467-7900 if you have any questions about the lottery process.

Portrait of a Graduate

Academics are a primary focus at MOSAIC Elementary School. We also recognize that there are additional skills an individual must possess to be successful in an ever changing world. The Mehlville School District along with MOSAIC wants every student to possess a wide range of values and skills that will lead to a successful personal and professional life. The district has identified five traits that we call our Portrait of a Graduate (POG). You will find that MOSAIC’s academic language mirrors many of the POG traits. Not only do we embed these traits into our daily routines and learning practices at MOSAIC, but we also facilitate monthly lessons based on POG to focus on a single trait. In February, we will focus on Self-Aware and Persistence. Please read below about each of the individual traits. We will continue to update our families about how we are incorporating POG in our studios.

MOSAIC Elementary PTO is collecting shoes! Our goal as a school is to fill 200 bags of shoes! Flyers are being sent home today. 25 pairs of shoes equals 1 bag. Collected shoes are used to support micro-enterprise vendors worldwide.

The studio that collects the most bags of shoes will win a studio wide pizza party and the student that collects the most shoes will win a pizza party with 2 friends and their pick of 1 MOSAIC faculty member.

If you are a MOSAIC family or know someone that owns a business/shop and are interested in setting a box out for shoe donations contact Jessica Brownlie ( to arrange a box drop off.

There will be 3 Saturday Shoe Drives from 10 AM- 12 PM: Jan 29, Feb 12 & March 5.

Don’t miss out on Shoesday Tuesday! Volunteers will be out collecting your donated shoes. Just pop your trunk open and we will gladly take those shoes off your hands.

This fundraiser will run through March 11th. The PTO will host a “Sock Hop” and celebrate all MOSAIC students and the success of the fundraiser on March 11th.
Please check out the volunteer list and see where you can help out with the fundraiser: All proceeds raised will go back to the MOSAIC Elementary PTO.

Kick your shoes off and dance the night away March 11th, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Dress up like a 1950’s kid, come hula hoop, hand jive and more! Make sure you get your picture taken with the roaming photo booth.
